Instructions for Collecting a Sample for Semen Analysis

Semen characteristics fluctuate and at least two or three semen analysis will need to be performed.

  • Do not ejaculate for at least 48 hours prior to collecting a sperm sample (but do not abstain for longer than two weeks - frequent ejaculation is recommended).
  • Masturbate into a sterilized container, provided by the FRMC. Do not use a condom to collect semen.
  • Try to collect all of your sperm in the sterile container. This will improve the accuracy of your test results.
  • Keep your sperm sample at body temperature and bring it immediately to the FRMC or collect your sample at our office.
  • Ensure your sample is clearly labelled with your own name, your partner's name, the date, and the time you generated the sperm sample.

Sperm testing must be completed within one hour of ejaculation.

"My husband and I couldn't face our relations and friends who for four years were always asking us why we didn't have a child. Then we met Dr. Roth, who advised us on how to overcome irregular periods and unbearable pain to be able to have a baby. We followed his advice. He worked hard and showed a great deal of patience with our situation. We are now parents of a beautiful baby girl. We recommend Dr. Roth to our community without hesitation."
