Uterine Cavity and Tubal Patency
Uterine Cavity and Tubal Patency refers to the structure and function of a woman's uterus and fallopian tubes. A woman may need to be evaluated with regard to:
- Abnormalities of the uterus or tumours of the uterine cavity
- Scar tissue or blockages of the fallopian tubes
- Congenital abnormalities, fibrous masses or adhesions
About 15% of women who are experiencing infertility will have a problem with their fallopian tubes.
Tubal obstruction and pelvic adhesions are caused by infection or complications from miscarriages, terminated pregnancies or prior pregnancies.
To assess the condition of the uterus and/or fallopian tubes the FRMC may recommend one of two procedures
